These are the steps to follow to offer products with Instagram Shopping:

Make sure the Instagram app on the phone is up to date. If you don’t see an Instagram Shopping tag, it’s because it’s out of date. This can be fixed in the device settings.

Make sure the product catalogue is synced with Facebook Shop. Instagram pulls its product feed from Facebook, and the store can be connected using the BigCommerce Channel Manager.

Click on the options tab in the Instagram business profile, scroll down to products and click again. This is followed by a series of screens that will present the product.


Authenticate the Instagram business account through your Facebook account. The product will lead to this next step immediately. This is how Instagram knows what products are available. If the store has not been connected to Facebook Shop, it must be done now. Next, you choose the product catalogue you want to sync for Instagram Shopping.

Upload the product photo as you usually would. Then on the captions page, there are now the options for tagging people and products.

Label the products. Select “tag products” and touch the photo to do so, in the same way, that you would if you were tagging a person. In the search bar, write the name of the product in the photo. The label is selected and then moved to the correct place. Instagram will get all of the details from the product catalogue of Facebook, including a link from the photo to the web. Again, if this does not work, go back to phase 2. Instagram Shopping allows you to add up to 5 product tags per photo.
