What Year Did You Start Your Business?
2020

Tell us a bit about your background. How did you come to create your business?
I began my career in financial education five years ago. My (now) business partner showed me an opportunity on how build my credit and make money doing that. I became a student of the products I used and took what I learned to launch TDavis Financial LLC in May of 2020.

Who was your very first customer and how did you find them?
My parents and brother were my first customers. I took the easy route and made them my guinea pigs.

What has been the biggest surprise so far after starting your own business?
I knew my business was going to work when I did my first seminar. I had three people show up, sit through the presentation and give me constructive criticism on what can be done better. What they didn’t know was I had never done this before, I had memorized the slides and pretended to know what I was talking about.

When did you know your business was going to work out?
I knew my business was going to work when I did my first seminar. I had three people show up, sit through the presentation and give me constructive criticism on what can be done better. What they didn’t know was I had never done this before, I had memorized the slides and pretended to know what I was talking about.

What has been your biggest lesson learned in pricing?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned about pricing is to treat myself as if I’m my customer. What am I getting for the cost of financial education? Can I actually afford this? I try to make pricing comparable to the industry standards.

What does a typical day look like for you from morning until evening?
My typical day usually begins around 7a, I may have scheduled a few calls with clients going over the credit analysis, sent out emails on next steps for clients, studied to become proficient in financial literacy. Take a break for 30 minutes to an hour the go right back. I usually finish the day between 5p-7p.

If you could go back in time, what’s the one thing you would do differently when you were starting your business?
If I could go back, I would save, save, save for future investments! It takes money to make money but once you find your niche and money flows a little easier, it is a sigh of relief.
